The Brookline Selectmen have invited John Robertson, Deputy Legislative Director at the Massachusetts Municipal Association, to advise them on “procedures and options” concerning a Proposition 2.5 override during tomorrow evening’s meeting (see Selectmen’s agenda).
Presumably, Mr. Robertson’s counsel has been sought because the Board wants to proceed procedurally with an override. No surprise there. This Board (save Betsy DeWiit’s short tenure) surrendered its fiduciary responsibilities - as in the efficient use of taxpayer funds - long ago.
Here’s my Prop 2.5 bumpersticker for Brookline: Reward Incompetence. Vote Yes on an Override.
